Local event in Poland – Pharmaceuticals removal technologies/Technologie usuwania farmeceutyków, 9.03.2021
During the event achievements of Less is More project were be presented. The general idea of the project was to test new, cost-effective technological solutions for the removal of pharmaceuticals and other CECs, suitable for small and medium-sized WWTPS. Three pilot plants were designed, built and installed at WWTPs in Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania. The main idea of the pilots was to develop and test separation technologies based on membrane processes and activated carbon (AC) in various combinations. The solutions suppose to improve the energy balance by extracting highly energetic organic material obtained from membrane filtration and reusing it for biogas production. The possibility of reuse of treated wastewater will also be reviewed in the project. In the final stage, a consolidated energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness assessment report will be prepared.
During the event, the results of three pilot stations and preliminary analyzes of pharmaceuticals from one of the WWTP in Poland (Słupsk) were presented as part of the project. In addition, another pilot plant station currently tested in Jaworzno, Poland (based on ozonation and AC) and the results of other research project related to removal of pharmaceuticals (Morpheus) in Europe has been discussed.

Podczas wydarzenia zaprezentowano osiągnięcia projektu Less is More. Ogólną ideą projektu jest przetestowanie nowych, opłacalnych rozwiązań technologicznych do usuwania farmaceutyków, odpowiednich dla małych i średnich OŚ. Zaprojektowano, zbudowano i zainstalowano trzy instalacje pilotażowe na oczyszczalniach ścieków w Danii, Szwecji i na Litwie. Główną ideą pilotów było opracowanie i przetestowanie technologii separacji opartych na procesach membranowych i węglu aktywnym (AC) w różnych kombinacjach. Rozwiązania mają na celu poprawę bilansu energetycznego poprzez ekstrakcję wysokoenergetycznego materiału organicznego uzyskanego z filtracji membranowej i ponowne jego wykorzystanie do produkcji biogazu. W projekcie przeanalizowana zostanie również możliwość ponownego wykorzystania oczyszczonych ścieków. W końcowej fazie zostanie przygotowane skonsolidowane sprawozdanie z oceny efektywności energetycznej i opłacalności. Podczas wydarzenia w ramach projektu zaprezentowano wyniki trzech stacji pilotażowych oraz wstępne analizy lfarmaceutyków z jednej z oczyszczalni ścieków w Polsce (Słupsk). Ponadto omówiono wyniki innej obecnie testowanej w Polsce stacji pilotażowej w Jaworznie (opartą na ozonowaniu i AC) oraz wyniki innego projektu badawczego związanego z usuwaniem farmaceutyków (Morpheus) w Europie.
